1) April 27-30: Shell Eco-Marathon Americas in Detroit
Taking the nearby streets of Detroit, the venue for this event is at Cobo Center. To show off their inventions students from North and South America come to the city using its one of three global Shell Eco-marathons. Such inventions find the limitations of futuristic automobiles and their low-slung and reduced fuel consumption capabilities.
2) June 2-4: Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix
Held in Belle Isle, the event brings an international flavor to the city for many grand prix races. There are several races under the Grand Prix umbrella that include unique themes and intricate details.
3) June 17: Eastpointe Gratiot Cruise in Detroit
In the northeast part of Detroit a weeklong celebration of cars; a culminating show followed by parade and cruise lane on the “main drag” is something to look forward to.
4) June 17-18: Motor Muster in Greenfield Village
The first of two auto events at Greenfield Village, the Motor Muster draws in the classic car lovers and honors some classic years of auto production; 1933-1976. With hundreds of classic cars, vintage trucks, motorcycles – even a fire engine or two; there is something for everyone.
5) June 18: Eyes on Design in Grosse Pointe Shores
The Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores is where the annual Father’s Day event is with as much as 300 cars following specific purposes will be there by exclusive invitation.
6) June 24: Cruisin’ Downriver
A few lanes will be dedicated to cruisers where the automobile enthusiasts visit the Lincoln Park, Southgate, Wyandotte and Riverview route.
7) July 15: All American Cruise in Westland
A drive-in movie is setup to relive the era following a 4.6 mile cruise the runs down Wayne Road in Westland.
8) June 24-25: Sloan Museum Auto Fair in Flint
The Flint Cultural Center pulls together at least 600 vehicles consisting of motorcycles, cars, and trucks for a 2 day event.
9) July 29: Car Capitol Auto Show in Lansing
Located just around the Capitol, sponsored by R.E. Olds Transportation Museum in Lansing, organizers will present 148 awards with historic and newer made vehicles.
10) July 28-30: Concours d’Elegance of America in Plymouth Township
At the Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth Township world-class vehicles are to be shown and a portion of the proceeds are donated to a charitable cause.
11) August 6: Clinton Township Gratiot Cruise
Billed family friendly, complete with a kid zone and pedal cars; the cruise, being the main event, is at the Gratiot’s and the car show in Clinton Township.
12) August 19: Woodward Dream Cruise
This is the car show for the ages; in conjunction with the Grand Prix, this is the auto-related event draws in an incredible crowd.
13) August 27: Cruisin’ Hines in SE MI
All vehicles except classic cars, 1991 or earlier, and hot rods are the permitted on this cruise in Southeast Michigan. Drivers of those cars get to get acquainted with 7.5 miles of Edward Hines Drive.
14) September 9-10: Old Car Festival in Greenfield Village
Taking place at Greenfield Village; founded by Henry Ford in Dearborn, the event attracts members of the transportation design community, collectors, and the general public to celebrate and reflect on design each year.
15) September 17: Orphan Car Show in Ypsilanti
In Ypsilanti’s Riverside Park, during the Orphan Car Show, the museum opens to showcase autos of the brands that no longer are in production.
